Local Support Wrap-up
As of 1500 EDT today (January 21) local Auxiliary support of the USCG Haiti Relief Joint Information Center (JIC) located at District 7 HQ in Miami in wrapping up, with the exception of the social media initiative which is being handled by Ryan Bank, BC-ARN and his team who have arrived on-scene from Chicago.
LT Kerver now believes that there is enough active duty support on-scene and available that local Auxiliary support will no longer be needed for the general administrative and logistics tasks that the Auxiliary team had been performing. However this situation remains fluid and can change abruptly — especially with the anticipated focus shifting to Operation Vigilant Sentry (OVS). Local support will remain in a standby status for at least another week.
ANALYSIS: Local Auxiliary members should be commended for the hard work and dedication they displayed in responding to this incident. Key issues involving the Auxiliary response should be addressed via a detailed after-action assessment. Social Media continues to be a high-focus for this operation.
