Today is the Fourth Day - 01/20/2010

Today is the fourth day (January 20) in which most USCG Public Affairs Officers (PAO) are forward deployed to the Haiti area of responsibility and significant Joint Incident Command Centers (JIC) administrative and logistical support continues to provided by Auxiliary members.

This support is expected to diminish significantly after today as active duty PAO’s arrive from throughout the Coast Guard to provide support.   Again, this situation remains fluid and can change abruptly — especially with the anticipated focus shifting to Operation Vigilant Sentry (OVS).   Local support will remain in a standby status for at least another week.

ANALYSIS: Auxiliary responders seems to have found a solid battle rhythm is providing essential JIC support.  JIC operations appear to be running smoothly and efficiently.  Key issues involving the Auxiliary response should be addressed via a detailed after-action assessment.  Social Media continues to be a high-focus for this operation.
