Chicago, August 25, 2009. 

“We are a very unique workshop,” said Facilitator Don Zinner.  “We are the only team training between the active duty Coast Guard and the Auxiliary.  I emphasize that I refer to team training, emphasizing the word team.  Auxiliarists and Coast Guard aviators from across the country are here to meet in this joint training session,” he said.

The workshop spans the full ins and outs of the Auxiliary aviation program.  In depth discussions featuring the rules and regulations unique to Auxiliary aviation, manuals, documents and uniforms were also covered.  The Auxiliary Operations Manual, which covers both air and surface craft operations was discussed in the workshop.

Specific aviation authority levels including order issuing authority was highlighted along with changes in previous regulations were covered.

There was plenty of time for questions and answers and an opportunity to share “war stories” was a highlight of the gathering.
