Auxiliarist Don Coggins carries many titles, Vessel Examiner, Assistant District 5-Northern Region (D5-NR) Personnel Services Officer and Academy Admissions Partner. The one unique title that he really is proud of is AuxChef.

Auxiliarist Coggins attended one of the first organized AuxChef courses in the Fifth Northern District held at Training Center Cape May, NJ and he has been going strong since.

He has participated in many flotilla, division and district events. West Chester, PA Flotilla 49, D5-NR holds a fellowship dinner before their flotilla meetings each month and Don has been coordinating the menus and preparing the food for several months. Most of the dinners serve between 15-25 people and have included very simple fare to elaborate dishes.

The "Chefs of the Future" program, AUXCHEF, is designed to prepare you to assist in food preparation in Coast Guard stations, Sectors, cutters and anywhere else that the Coast Guard has personnel. You will be able to work in the galley, cooking for the crew. You’ll provide a service to your local unit in a way that not many people can – with a hot, nutritious meal!
