Auxiliarist Robert Rosenberg, Division 12, D5-NR, was cited for superior performance of duty by Captain D.L. Scott, U.S. Coast Guard, Commander Sector Delaware Bay, at the last Division Change of Watch ceremony.

Rosenberg is a regular communications watchstander at Station Indian River in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware working five hours five to six days a week.

On October 6th 2007, Auxiliarist Rosenberg received a distress call from the M/V SUSIE II reporting two missing divers.  He quickly launched the Station’s boat and assisted the duty officer with coordinating the launch of a Coast Guard helicopter.  Their rapid response concluded in the rescue of the two divers.

Mr. Rosenberg has stood in excess of 4,000 hours of communication watch at the unit, and has been an invaluable force multiplier to the active duty crew.  While on watch, Mr. Rosenberg was directly involved in 93 search and rescue events.

He was also responsible for qualifying 22 active duty watchstanders by working closely with unit members and ensuring their preparation and professional communication skills.

In addition to watchstanding, Auxiliarist Rosenberg has been very generous to the station by purchasing small products that help out in the station’s galley.  He has coordinated with other Auxiliarists and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars to provide the crew with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and other random dinners and food at various times.

According to Station Chief BMC Mark Corbishley, “Bob Rosenberg does an enormous amount of good for the unit.”  He serves as the Coast Guard Station Indian River Inlet's Housing Officer and utilizes his knowledge of the local area and housing market to directly assist newly assigned crewmembers in locating quality housing. This has enabled members to live closer to the unit and saving them travel time and money.

Besides serving as a regular watchstander. he served as Division 12's Public Affairs Officer and Flotilla Commander 12-1 during this period.  He personally educated over 600 boaters and has volunteered nearly 300 hours staffing “Safe Boating” display booths.
