NORTHPORT, NY, November 17 2008: The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-7 band contingent, stationed in Ft. Salonga, NY, honored its war veterans with a musical concert for the residents of the Northport VA Hospital on Sunday November 16. The concert was held in the Atrium of the VA Medical Center on Middleville Rd, Northport, NY.
The program included military anthems of each branch of the US armed forces, and a variety of patriotic songs such as “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “America the Beautiful”. This was the band’s third appearance at the Northport VA Hospital since the band was started last year.
“The music touched the hearts of everyone and it was great that they took the time to come to the (Northport VA) Hospital to remember the veterans” said one of the staff. “I especially liked when the band played taps to remember those veterans that died.”
The band rehearses in Northport and is always looking for more patriotic musicians.
