Judges should be able to hear all instructions and replies to/from the coxswain and crew.  Radio communications will be with “NSAR Radio.”  Say, “This is a drill” before each transmission.

Examples of required radio messages:

• U/W message including Auxiliary Facility number and persons on board (POB).
• Arrival at last known position (LKP), commence search point (CSP) and commencing search pattern.
• Anything unusual or unexpected that you see.
• Recovery of search object,
• Mission completed; returning to base; Auxiliary Facility moored.

Scoring for this event will be worth 100 points.  Point allocation will be based on the use of the phonetic alphabet, numbers and decimal points and the appropriate use of prowords.  Proper operating radio procedures must be used at all times.  100 points for first place, 90 points for 2nd place, 80 points for 3rd place descending to 20 points for 9th place.
