In many parts of the country the word was that Orlando’s airport, because of the weather, was either closed or was forcing delays in arrival. A few Auxiliarists from Arizona found out that their flight to Orlando was canceled. Some quick moves of the thumb (on their cell phones) and a very persistent attitude about getting here prevailed. They caught a flight to Fort Lauderdale, approximately 225 miles south of Orlando, and rented the next to last available car. They then drove through horrendous weather and arrived in Orlando about four hours later. Tired and “grungy” they faced Mother Nature and were the victors, this time. This was but one story of the adventurous travel encountered in the trips to Orlando. Many Auxiliarists were delayed in arriving, but the business of the conference opened on time and the many required meetings were started as scheduled.
