Mr. TURNER is cited for superior performance of duty while serving as Chief, External Communications Division from August 2007 to July 2008. Mr. TURNER’s keen organizational insight and innovative spirit were instrumental to rapid and significant strides made by the Auxiliary Public Affairs media program. Exercising dynamic leadership and a remarkable spirit of cooperation, he worked closely with program counterparts, Coast Guard Public Affairs Officers, and media representatives to identify and act upon broad opportunities to actively market and promote Auxiliary boating safety programs to the public. Mr. TURNER enthusiastically ensured that at least three Auxiliary program press releases were released each week during the boating season and then at least one release per week during the winter months. Effectively serving as, “The Voice of the Coast Guard Auxiliary,” he proudly represented the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary at major regional and national functions, steadfastly advertising Auxiliary missions and achievements. Mr. TURNER’S diligence, perseverance, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
