Mr. SOFFER is cited for outstanding achievement while serving as Marketing Manager of Special Events on the Auxiliary’s National Marketing Group from November 2006 to August 2008. Applying extraordinary foresight and corporate diplomacy, Mr. SOFFER worked closely with Stearns, Inc. and Bass Pro Shops to coordinate the Auxiliary’s nation-wide Fit-To-Float life jacket marketing campaigns. He skillfully arranged Auxiliary engagement in these annual 36 city tours, significantly raising the Auxiliary’s profile as an integral partner in securing America’s boating safety. Mr. SOFFER achieved a remarkably broad range of media coverage in five major media markets culminating with his appearance on a live Fox News Channel national television segment in which an audience of over one million viewers learned how to correctly fit and wear a life jacket. As a direct result of Mr. SOFFER’s unwavering perseverance, more than 1,700 worn-out and ill-fitting life jackets were exchanged during the Fit-to-Float campaign, and the Auxiliary earned the well-deserved praise from industry professionals and other boating safety partners for its professionalism and enthusiastic involvement. Mr. SOFFER expertly represented Coast Guard interests at the national Bassmaster Classic Expo in which he extensively promoted inflatable personal flotation devices and boating safety practices. He adroitly managed several other far-reaching promotions of special events created, planned, and implemented by the National Marketing Group including the National Marine Manufacturers Association Discover Boating Tour. Mr. SOFFER’s dedication, judgment, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
