Commodore TUCKER is cited for outstanding meritorious service as Director of the Auxiliary International Affairs and Interpreter Support Directorate from September 2006 to August 2008. An ardent advocate for improved search-and-rescue capability in the Caribbean region, Commodore TUCKER effectively laid the foundation for the establishment of volunteer search-and-rescue organizations in Barbados and Jamaica. He provided pivotal leadership and direction to the planning and execution of the 2008 Caribbean Search-and-Rescue Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His enthusiastic guidance ensured that the conference appropriately emphasized the establishment and strengthening of volunteer units along with harbor security development through a regionally-tailored version of America’s Waterway Watch. In the Asia-Pacific region, he worked closely with leaders of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association to foster development of similar volunteer search-and-rescue ventures as those in the Caribbean. Demonstrating unwavering commitment to operational excellence, Commodore TUCKER served as Vice Chairman of the International Search-and-Rescue Competition between the United States and Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliaries. Applying superb professional expertise, he oversaw significant expansion of the Auxiliary’s Interpreter Corps through its unprecedented and successful deployments of Auxiliary interpreters to support U.S. Navy units that participated in the Navy’s African Partnership program. As the Deputy National Legislative Liaison Officer, Commodore TUCKER channeled his tireless efforts to achieve improvements in communications and support between Auxiliary Legislative Liaison Officers and their corresponding State Boating Law Administrators. Commodore TUCKER’s ability, diligence, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
