Commodore MCADAMS is cited for outstanding meritorious service as the National Chief of Staff from November 2006 to August 2008. Exercising keen programmatic insight and planning skill, Commodore MCADAMS developed and executed strategic objectives that significantly strengthened relationships between the Auxiliary, Coast Guard program offices, and boating safety organizations. He demonstrated tremendous team spirit and professional poise as the Auxiliary representative to the National Safe Boating Council, and he authored more than 30 articles for the National Association of Boating Law Administrators’ newsletter, Small Craft Advisory. Commodore MCADAMS also served as the Auxiliary’s ad hoc representative to the National Boating Safety Advisory Council.  In this capacity, he was instrumental in the development of the strategic recreational boating safety plan published by the Coast Guard’s Boating Safety Division and subsequently adopted by numerous boating safety organizations throughout the nation. A consummate manager and advisor, Commodore MCADAMS provided vital tactical counsel for the National Commodore and guidance for Auxiliary program managers to focus on recruiting and retention efforts that stopped downward membership trends. His unwavering commitment resulted in a net membership increase of more than 2,500 new Auxiliarists, and yielded significant growth in Auxiliary public outreach, member training, vessel examiner, and marine dealer programs. He adeptly compiled and edited the National Commodore’s monthly memos and quarterly reports to the Commandant, and he provided critical review of numerous Memoranda of Agreement with other recreational boating safety organizations. Commodore MCADAMS’ ability, diligence, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
