JOINT STATEMENT OF INTENT
TO FOSTER BILATERAL COOPERATION BETWEEN
THE
UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY
AND
THE AUSTRALIAN VOLUNTEER COAST GUARD ASSOCIATION

The NATIONAL COMMODORE OF THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY AND THE NATIONAL COMMODORE OF THE AUSTRALIAN VOLUNTEER COAST GUARD ASSOCIATION

SO AS TO foster the on-water safety of the citizens of both nations, and

RECOGNIZING the mutual advantages to be obtained from bilateral cooperation

HEREBY STATE THEIR INTENTION to:

  • forge an alliance and co-operative partnership between these two volunteer organizations
  • continue to provide senior leadership attendance invitations to discuss topics of mutual interest and, as appropriate, develop joint programs
  • be aware and advise of any occurrence or activity that may occur within the Pacific Ocean that could be beneficial or affect the operations of either or both organizations
  • promote safe boating to the recreational and commercial boating communities in both countries
  • save human lives and protect the maritime safety interests of  the citizens of both Australia and the USA
  • work towards the development of common training and operational standards, achieving international best practice and the delivery of fully accredited CBT competencies to our respective members
  • be alert for opportunities to partner and share in the development and application of educational materials
  • encourage the exchange of information, technologies and other materials to the benefit of both organizations on their related activities through cooperative visits or joint meetings at all levels of their organizations and linking the websites of both organizations
AND HEREBY EXPRESS their mutual determination to pursue additional opportunities for future cooperation.
