COMMODORE PETER E. FERNANDEZ

Commodore Peter E. Fernandez is serving the Coast Guard Auxiliary as the Seventh District Commodore. He previously served as Vice Commodore, Seventh District in 2003-2004, as District Rear Commodore East–2001-2002 – Activities Miami, Florida.

Commodore Fernandez graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, in 1962 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Commodore Fernandez for the past 32 years and currently is the CEO and owner of a swimming pool business and export corporation with over 25 employees. His business is fully staff including a manager allowing him to travel and to take time off at his pleasure.   

Since joining the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1986, he has served in all elected positions through District Commodore as well as several staff positions at various levels of the Auxiliary. He is qualified as a Coxswain, Vessel Examiner, and Instructor. He is active in operations, member training, public education, and the vessel safety check programs. He is a member of Flotilla 65, Seventh District.

Commodore Fernandez has received many awards and commendations, including the Auxiliary Award of Operational Merit, Auxiliary Commendation Award, Auxiliary Award of Administrative Merit, Award of Merit, Transportation 9-11 Medal, Auxiliary Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (OPS), Sustained Auxiliary Service Award (11), Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, DOT Secretary’s Outstanding Unit Award and Auxiliary Annual Service Performance Award (O 2003).

A native of Camaguey, Cuba, becoming citizen of the United States on 20 July 1967 and he currently resides in Miami, Florida with his wife Patricia.
