COMMODORE LOIS CONRADO

Commodore Lois A. Conrado was elected Commodore of District 11S on 11 September 2004 from the position of Rear Commodore Los Angeles/Long Beach North, 2003 and 2004. She assumed her duties as District Commodore on 01 January 2005.
Commodore Conrado graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics in 1965. She enrolled in University of California at Los Angeles where she completed her California State Teaching Credential in 1966 as well as work toward her masters in mathematics. In 1968, she received a National Science Foundation Scholarship to attend the University of Southern California for continued studies in the field of advanced mathematics. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from California State University at Northridge (1975) with an emphasis in Counseling and Guidance.
Commodore Conrado retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 2002 after 36 years of service. During that time while at James Monroe and William H. Taft High Schools, Lois handled state funded Gifted Programs, state mandated testing programs, and coordinated substance abuse programs as well as counseling high school students and teaching advanced mathematics. The last seven years of her educational career were spent working at a continuation high school with students with special needs.
Commodore Conrado has received many awards and commendations, including the Auxiliary Commendation Medal, Auxiliary Commandant Letter of Commendation, Coast Guard Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, Sustained Auxiliary Service Award (10), Operations Service Award and the Auxiliary Public Education Service Award (3). She is currently certified as a Coxswain, Instructor, ATON Verifier, and Vessel Examiner.
Commodore Conrado and her husband Al are currently members of Flotilla 49, Eleventh District, Southern Region. Both Lois and Al are native Californians who grew up in Northern California and have just purchased their retirement home in Contra Costa County near Alameda County.
