Auxiliarist Jerry Rogoff, a member of Flotilla 57, Division 5, D5-SR, has completed ten years of communications watchstanding at Coast Guard Station Little Creek, Virginia Beach, Virginia. By itself this may be a noteworthy feat, it probably does not set an Auxiliary longevity record. But, when you consider that Rogoff reported to his watchstanding duties at least twice a week during those years, donating more than 6,240 hours of his free time, then the deed is certainly noteworthy.

Coast Guard certainly thought his service was noteworthy, awarding Auxiliarist Rogoff the Auxiliary Achievement Medal with the operational distinguishing device. The medal was awarded at a recent Flotilla 57 meeting and given to Auxiliarists in recognition of their sustained professional and/or leadership achievement in administration or operations.

Auxiliarist Rogoff was cited for having served on the Coast Guard Station's qualification boards for the last decade. He was instrumental in helping to qualify every communications watchstander for the last decade! These included over 130 active duty Coast Guard personnel.

Rogoff's experience and participation in many types of emergencies assisted him in his invaluable contribution the training of these watchstanders.

Additionally, Rogoff was lauded for consistently volunteering to serve over the winter holidays, so that the active duty men and women could have some free time to spend with their families and friends.

Somehow, Rogoff still found time for participating in safety patrols, public education, member instructing and vessel examining as well as numerous public appearances. He recently completed two full terms as Division Captain.

Auxiliarist Rogoff's award citation summed up his achievements; "in keeping with the highest tradition of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary."
