PORT ANGELES, Wash. - United States Coast Guard Auxiliary member Chuck Gagnon, of Port Angeles, became an Honorary Chief in the U.S. Coast Guard during a recent ceremony at Coast Guard Group Port Angeles. Auxiliarist Gagnon was also presented with a certificate signed by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Frank A. Welch and Admiral Thomas H. Collins, then Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. This distinction comes in recognition of Gagnon's extraordinary effort over the past 13 years serving as a volunteer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in direct support of Coast Guard Group Port Angeles. Auxiliarist Gagnon, a graduate of the University of Washington, works as contractor supervisor on various Coast Guard projects including hangar deck, fuel cells, quarters, fuel facilities, piers, Pt. Wilson light, and projects at CG Station Neah Bay and CG Station La Push. Auxiliarist Gagnon is a life long resident of Port Angeles, WA. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1989 at Bangor Sub Group 9 and joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1993. He currently serves as Division 4 Marine Safety Officer. |
