For services set forth in the following:

CITATION:

"For exceptionally meritorious service from May 2004 to November 2004 while serving as a member of the Auxiliary Recreational Boating Safety Team. For exceptionally meritorious service between May 7, 2004 and November 14, 2004 in the outstanding execution of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Recreational Boating Safety Directorate initiative in conjunction with the National Marine Manufacturers Association 27 city Discover Boating & Fishing Tour; and, the follow-on 8-city Test Drive Tour, sponsored by Boating World Magazine and West Marine. Auxiliarists from flotillas across the country responded with limited advance notice to staff a recreational boating safety exhibit. Your team work and dedication to mission accomplishment resulted in over 150,000 boaters and potential boaters being exposed to the many Coast Guard Auxiliary products, programs and services available. These actions resulted in generating interest in Auxiliary membership and numerous enrollments in boating courses and requests for vessel safety checks. You also impressed the boating public with an extremely positive image of the Auxiliary by wearing new style inflatable personal flotation devices while staffing an exhibit containing other new type personal flotation devices. You responded to numerous boating questions, provided a variety of current literature and in all instances advanced "You're In Command", the current recreational boating safety initiative created by the Coast Guard Office of Boating Safety. Special emphasis was placed on increasing personal flotation device wear which you effectively communicated and demonstrated with pride and perseverance. There is no doubt that ultimately lives will be saved because of this emphasis. The dedication, pride, and professionalism displayed by the Coast Guard Auxiliary Recreational Boating Safety Team are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary."

For the Commandant,

B. P. SMITH
Captain, U.S. Coast Guard
Chief Director of Auxiliary
