For services set forth in the following: CITATION: "For exceptionally meritorious service from November 2000 to
December 2004 while serving as a member of the Auxiliary Women's Uniform
Team. Recognizing that women's Auxiliary uniforms did not help project
a uniformly professional appearance for some Auxiliarists, the team
initiated creation of practical, attractive, and reasonably priced
options for Auxiliary women. Working closely with the Coast Guard
uniform system manager, the team extensively researched similar circumstances
and uniform options employed by other military services as well as
the complete history of women's uniform items previously worn by Auxiliarists.
With remarkable initiative, the team focused on development of a preliminary
new shirt design and included it in a comprehensive uniform field
survey and proposal package for review by Auxiliary leadership. With
utmost concern for the needs communicated by their fellow Auxiliarists,
a production prototype was developed and field-tested. As a result
of their concerted efforts, an approved alternative women's uniform
shirt was created and Auxiliary uniform items continued to enable
Auxiliarists to project their proud and professional image to the
nation. The dedication, pride, and professionalism displayed by the
Coast Guard Auxiliary Women's Uniform Team are in keeping with the
highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United
States Coast Guard Auxiliary."
