"The Auxiliary Commendation Medal is awarded to Auxiliarists
in recognition of outstanding assistance that furthers any of the
Auxiliary's authorized activities, except operations. It may be awarded
by any Coast Guard Commanding Officer (Captain or above) of an operational
unit or serving as a Division Chief or higher at a district office,
MLC, Headquarters, or serving as a Director.”
Mr. William A. Coby
Mr. COBY is cited for outstanding achievement while serving as Branch
Assistant, Auxiliary Center from August 2002 to August 2005. Demonstrating
exceptional personal commitment, Mr. COBY volunteered over 1,000 hours
in direct support of the Auxiliary Center located in St. Louis, Missouri.
He provided invaluable assistance by diligently working extra hours
during peak operating periods to fulfill customer orders for Auxiliary
Center products including uniform items, clothing, and educational
materials.
Mr. Edward E. Sweeny III
Mr. SWEENEY is cited for outstanding achievement while serving as
Deputy Department Chief, Department of Marketing and Public Affairs
from November 2004 to September 2005. With exceptional managerial
ability and superb leadership, Mr. SWEENEY built a strong team to
fulfill the Auxiliary's internal and external media strategies. His
determination to elevate the Auxiliary's profile in the eyes of the
public was instrumental to the advancement of Coast Guard missions
and the safety and security of the nation's ports and waterways.
