MR. ERIC J. HEBERT

Mr. HEBERT is cited for outstanding achievement while serving as Communication Services Division Chief, Department of Education from 10 March 2004 to 31 July 2004. Immediately upon assuming this appointment, Mr. HEBERT applied his exceptional technical skills to make major visual and performance improvements to the department’s web site. He reorganized and streamlined the site to facilitate rapid access to the entire collection of Auxiliary educational support materials in downloadable formats. With tireless attention to organizational detail, Mr. HEBERT established direct electronic communication links within each Auxiliary departmental staff from national to flotilla levels and electronic communication lines to over 21,000 individual Auxiliary e-mail addresses. Due to his dogged efforts to improve intra-regional communications, Auxiliary district level staff officers were provided for the first time with internet communications networks to coordinate their activities within their own regions. Mr. HEBERT’s attentive, professional service to the field ensured that all of these network modifications were thoroughly tested for quality and reliability prior to deployment in ways that were transparent to the normal conduct of business and without interruption of services. Mr. HEBERT’s dedication, judgment, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
