NACON 2004 - Friday Night Beach Party

Fellowship is the fourth cornerstone and the attendees at NACON 2004 were treated to an excellent “training workshop” in fellowship; Friday evening’s “Beach Party”.

Oh sure, there was no sand and only a great imagination could create the sound of surf…. We didn’t need it. We had a fabulous band, great food, some libations and fantastic participation by all (see the photos).

The sounds of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s stirred the crowd. Dancing in the aisles was the norm of the evening.

Vice Admiral Thad Allen and National Commodore Bill Edgerton led the way. Conga lines wound around the dance floor all night inviting all to join in.

“I’ve attended over 10 national conferences and this is certainly the liveliest. Everyone, and I really mean everyone, is having a great time,” said an Auxiliarist as she danced around the room accompanied by a line of over 50 laughing, dancing folks.

A “contest” of sorts for the best, worst costumes and hats was a blast. No need to publish a list of the “winners,” everyone in the room was a winner tonight.

Fellowship is alive and well in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
