At the 15th Street Ramp

The Fort Lauderdale (FL) City Commission issued a proclamation declaring National Safe Boating Week this past May and announced, for the occasion, local Flotilla 32’s adoption of the 15th Street boat ramp.

City Commissioner Cindi Hutchinson (center in the photo) joined the team of vessel examiners and recreational boating safety visitors at the ramp for the set up and inauguration of the permanent booth. The Flotilla will post examiners at the booth every Saturday.

Auxiliarists staffing the booth will inform boaters about new and current Florida regulations and distribute packets of literature. Most of the literature focuses on Federal regulations, Port Everglades safe boating practices and local boating public education schedules. They, of course, perform on-site vessel examinations.

Richard Deford is the Flotilla Vessel Examinations Officer, Bill LaFontaine is the Recreational Boating Safety Visitor Officer and Harold Carstens is the National Safe Boating Week Officer.
