Stemming from the annual Coast Guard Sector San Diego “Toys for Us” program, Division 10 Auxiliarists decided to help the youngsters of Coast Guard personnel more than just once a year.

At their June Division meeting, Mike Johnson, Captain of Division 10 proposed the idea of donating school supplies to the Coast Guard youngsters in Sector San Diego. The Division Board approved the motion and took the idea back to their flotillas, raising $500.00 for the kids.

Sector San Diego supplied a list of supplies needed and Division 10 Auxiliarists purchased 60 back to school kits. Members of the Division organized the campaign and Mike Saverson, RCO-SD, delivered the kits to the Chief Petty Officers Association for distribution to the youngsters.

The supplies were for grades 1-12 and included pencils, pens, markers, crayons, paper, notebooks, binders, dividers, scientific calculators, highlighters, scissors, glue sticks, glue and erasers.
