CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF THE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY MERITORIOUS SERVICE
AWARD
Mr. PLATT is cited for meritorious service in the performance of duty while serving as Auxiliary Database Manager in the Office of the Chief Director, Auxiliary during the period September 2001 to September 2003. Displaying exceptional leadership and superb organizational skills, Mr. Platt excelled as Database Manager during this critical period in the history of the Auxiliary. In carrying out his responsibilities, he was responsible for successfully implementing the overall continuous development and improvement, and day-to-day operations of this new, vital web-based, nationwide system. As the Chief Director’s point of contact, he worked hand in hand with the Office of Command and Control Architecture, the Coast Guard Operations Support Center, and members of the Auxiliary in the field. Mr. PLATT’s drive and determination were instrumental in the development and actualization of changes necessary to ensure a more efficient data collection process and smooth operational retrieval system. He diligently pursued feedback from the field on improvements that would make future database interactions less stressful and more user-friendly, resulting in a substantial reduction in end-user trouble calls plus accounting for substantial cost savings to the overall management of the 37,000 member AUXDATA database. Additionally, Mr. PLATT was instrumental in the creation of an AUXDATA User Guide and further provided training and presentations to wide and varied users and audiences of the Auxiliary.
His leadership and dedicated volunteerism ensured that this system, which is so vital to the Auxiliary’s record’s-keeping capabilities, would continue to serve the membership and leadership daily with up-to-date critical data. Mr. PLATT’s dedication and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. |
