CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF
THE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD
TO
COMMODORE HENRY G. PRATT, III
UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUXILIARY

Commodore PRATT is cited for meritorious service in the performance of duty in multiple and significant positions during the period January 1993 to July 2003. In the execution of his many duties and responsibilities, he tirelessly maintained high standards of excellence in the performance of Coast Guard and Auxiliary missions and programs. At the grass roots level, he superbly served as Flotilla Commander and Division Captain, and as Division Staff Officer-Operations. At the national level, he fostered a Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary strategic partnership, thus ensuring the Auxiliary’s active participation as a critical force multiplier of Coast Guard Forces. In January 1995, he was appointed as a charter member of the Horizons Committee, now known as the Long Range Planning Committee, an appointment that he continues to hold. Since 1995, he has also effectively represented the 37,000 members of the Auxiliary on the Coast Guard Uniform Board. Through his presence, the unique needs of Auxiliary members have consistently been considered in conjunction with Board deliberations regarding changes to uniform regulations. From 1995 to 2002, Commodore PRATT served as the Auxiliary representative to the BOAT/US advisory council and was instrumental in the two organizations signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding, benefiting both organizations as well as the nation’s recreational boating population. Additionally, since January 2001 he has superbly served as the Auxiliary’s representative to the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Policy Board.

Commodore PRATT is heartily commended for his devoted, dynamic and continuing efforts as a key member of Coast Guard Forces. His dedication, judgment, and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
