A Day of Meetings And An Evening of Fellowship By Mel Borofsky, BC-ADG, Editor SITREP
Today, Thursday, most of the 550 attendees came flowing through the portico doors and headed for the registration desks. A lot of eager, energetic faces, some new, some familiar. All with one common goal; get signed in, find a place to kick of one’s shoes and then get the lay of the land. The morning meetings started off bright and early. Each of the three major Auxiliary Areas, Atlantic-East, Atlantic-West and Pacific conducted their separate meetings and each invited speakers from various departments who made their presentations. In attendance were the District Commodores and Vice Commodores from each area and many interested parties attended to view the presentations. Following and running concurrently were a training summit roundtable and a National Executive Board meeting. As stated previously, these meetings were to lie out plans and seek comment from the participants. Most of the subject matter was in the “draft mode” and not yet ready for general distribution. Each of these departments will be advising the Auxiliary of their plans either at the general assembly or by communication to the membership at a later date. The evening festivities followed the tradition of fellowship to the nth degree. Each of the above mentioned Areas sponsored a hospitality room, each open to all, each for all to enjoy. Each District within those three Areas presented a specialty food or
drink representative of their District. Of course, “Moose Milk”
was one of the most popular offerings. The contents of which continue
to remain one of the best-kept secrets in the Auxiliary. All enjoyed
lots of food and lots of fellowship. |
